Kyungsung's history

The University was established by the late Reverend Dr. Kim Gil-Chang, a pioneer of Christianity in Korea. The university was originally called Kyungnam Teacher's College established in 1955 under the ideals of Christian love and service, In 1979 the school was re-organized and renamed Pusan Industrial University. At the tie of the founding of Pusan Industrial University, the General Construction Committee began work on expanding and improving the quality of the university's facilities. As a result, the university received official sanctioning as a general university in September, 1983. The name of the university was changed to Kyungsung University in 1988 during the process of becoming an international university which can fulfil the needs of today's society.

The university will have 10 undergraduate colleges (Liberal Arts, Law and Politics, Commerce and Economics, Science, Engineering, Pharmacy, Arts, Theology, Multimedia, and Chinese) in 2011 encompassing 7 different faculties and 54 departments (in 2011 the maximum freshmen enrollments will be 3,120 students).

There are seven graduate schools (General, International Management, Multimedia, Education, Social Welfare, Clinical Pharmacy, and Digital Design). In addition, seven affiliated organizations and seven affiliated research institutes have been established to aid teaching and research. Kyungsung University's 700 employees and over 13,000 students are all working together to achieve the school's educational goals.

We will make a University willing to challenge the future based on its foundation philosophy of the Christianity for love and service. Our University has seen many developments and changes over the years thanks to the unwavering determination and endless efforts of its members, along with help from the local community and other outside sources. Though we are proud of our history we have for the past half century.

We are more interested in facing the challenges of the future than in talking about our past achievements. As the information-based society of the future dawns, Universities must strive to produce creative academic research facilities while at the same time cultivate future-oriented individuals who can compete in today's workforce. Kyungsung University has foreseen the rapid changes in the modern society. Our university provides something differentiated and adhering education system escaping from the existing educational frame in university that is so common and monotonous and especially our university has a slogan for educational renaissance and Kyungsung renaissance, so that it is aimed at nurturing qualified persons by reinforcing the education for sensibility and leadership as a competent leader who has the professional mind. The quality of a university isn't determined b its size alone. The will and efforts of the school members and faculty make the school stand out among others. We must recognise the truth as we do our best to create a quality university.

Student Activities

Throughout the year many kinds of academic, artistic, and athletic festival are held to enhance school spirit and to further the ideals of the university. The Daedong Festival is held each year around May 30, the anniversary of the founding of Kyungsung University. Each department also holds its own "Fall Festival" during the fall semester. Various volunteer service activities are carried out by student groups including volunteer agricultural service three times every year during the spring, summer, and fall.

Student Welfare Facilities

Kyungsung University's student welfare facilities consist of student convenience facilities and general campus facilities. Student convenience facilities include the departmental meeting rooms, men's and women's lounge ares in each college, club meeting rooms, and student council offices. General campus facilities include student and faculty cafeterias, snack bar, general store, barbershop, beauty parlor, copy center, photo shop, optical center, computer store, travel agency, coffee shop, bank, and post office.

The student convenience facilities provide an open and free environment for academic and extra-curricular activities. Operation and maintenance of the convenience facilities is done by the students themselves and helps enhance school pride and culture. The general campus facilities provide quality goods and services at modest prices. Items needed for campus life are available. These facilities are sensitive to the changing needs of the Kyungsung University community. Profits are put into welfare fund that is available to Kyungsung University members in time of need.

Research Institute

The cultural performance facilities at Kyungsung University are equipped with state of the art sound and lighting systems as well as multimedia presentation equipment. Since opening in September 1983, the 499 seat Concert Hall has played an important role in the local culture community. The Small Theater and Small lecture Hall, which opened with the Multimedia and information Building in November 1997, are used not only for classes and lectures, but also for a variety of performances, movies and seminars.

Exhibition Facilities

The exhibition facilities of Kyungsung University consist of the exhibition hall of wild birds, the Art Gallery, and the University Museum. The Exhibition Hall of Wild Birds is located on the B1 level of the Multimedia and information Building. There are over 1000 specimens representing 270 different species of birds, most of which are native to Korea. Specimens of eggs and nests are also preserved here, along with many rare documents. It has become a popular destination for many students on nature field trips. The Art Gallery was one of the first University museums in the country to be registered as a first-class art museum. It is equipped with the latest lighting facilities. Besides providing a space for artistic research and production, the Art Gallery also has many special exhibitions. The University Museum opened in March 1972. It serves as a research center for Kaya culture. In the exhibition room one can get a feeling for the roots of Korean Culture by viewing objects dating from the Stone Age through the Chosun Dynasty.

"Knock Knock Indonesia 2015" 

This show was a free show held in Kyungsung university made by the Indonesian students from Yayasan Kyungsung. They were very enthusiastic about it and since it was a free show, it was a passion drived show rather than it was a money or financially drived show. Those students showed utmost care, love and pride towards their own country while performing. 

This started on October 27, 2012 

MIKy (Mahasiswa Indonesia Kyungsung University/Kyungsung University Indonesian Student Organization) and KITA (Kyungsung Indonesian Traditional dance Association) proudly presents: 

A cultural concert where you can catch a glimpse of "real" Indonesia. As if you are opening the door to Indonesia, we will take you for a tour to see representative of each big and renowned island in Indonesia.

경성대학교 인도네시아 유학생들이 인도네시아 문화 (전통 춤, 노래, 악기, 의상, 등)를 널리 알리기 위해 열정을 다해 꾸민 문화 콘서트 "Knock, Knock, Indonesia". 

Konser kebudayaan yang di adakan tahunan oleh pelajar Indonesia di Kyungsung University, Busan untuk memperkenalkan budaya Indonesia kepada orang-orang asing di busan dalam bentuk drama, musik, tarian daerah, dll. 

This is one of the key attractions in Kyungsung University for Indonesian students because this concert hall helps promote the vast and such detailed culture of Indonesia itself. Through these widely known cultural activities, they can attract tourists and even students like them to study in a foreign country like Indonesia.

Affiliated Organizations

Central Library

The Central Library supports study, research, and learning through the ready availability of its over 500,000 books. The contents of the library's collection are constantly being updated to keep pace with the changing nature of modern information society. The computerized library system allows students to search for materials in the libraries of Kyungsung University and other campuses by using their own personal computers. The Electronic Library located on the first floor plays a leading role in enhancing educational information technology on campus. 

Institute of Computer Information Management Center. 

It is the duty of the Institute of Computer Information Management to develop and promote concrete measures that will enhance the specialization in multimedia at kyungsung University and facilitate located here such as the Ultra-high Speed Communication Network (155 Mbps ATM) form the core of the university's specialization process. When networked with CATV, VOD, and satellite communication facilities, the ATM becomes a valuable multimedia tool for research and education. 

The institute is also well equipped with facilities for producing and learning to use multimedia applications. There is a Graphics Production room capable of generating 3D graphics, animation, and multimedia compact discs. There are also Video and Audio Production rooms with MIDI digital equipment, a Graphics Preparation room where professors can develop materials for video conferences and lectures, and a Multimedia Education room to help students learn how to sue and make multimedia applications. The institute operates and internet server that enables access to the internet from various locations on campus. Students are given a user-ID so that they can have easy access to information on the internet. 

University Museum 

The Museum serves as a research center for Kaya culture. Museum activities include the excavation, surveying, and restoration of Kaya and other ancient relics. the museum plays an important role in preserving and transmitting our country's ancient cultural heritage through the storage and exhibition of these artifacts, In the exhibition room one can get a feeling for the roots of Korean culture by viewing objects dating from the Kaya Era up to the Chosun Dynasty as well as restored folk artifacts.  

Multimedia Communication Center 

The Kyungsung Newspaper, KUBS radio station, Kyungsung Times English language newspaper, and the cyber-journal Digital Kyungsung are all produced and operated from the Multimedia Communication Center (MCC). The MCC also plays an important role in the multimedia specialization business-support system and is divided into the Kyungsung University Newspaper team, radio Broadcasting team, English newspaper team, Image Production team, and Advertising team. 

Office of Athletic Affairs 

The Department of Physical Education is working to develop physical education programs that serve the physical fitness needs of the community and to train elite competitive athletes. Currently there are 8 competitive sports teams maintained by Kyungsung University: baseball, wrestling, swimming, track and field, modern pentathlon, bowling, equestrian, yacht racing. The athletes have brought honor to Kyungsung University through their successes in national and international competitions. The American-style football team is one of the best in the country. The physical Education department is dedicated to the development of amateur sports in Korea. 

Center for Culture & Arts 

Center for Culture & arts was established in November 1997 and consists of the new small theater, Small Lecture Hall, Art Gallery located in the Multimedia and Information Building, and the Concert Hall located in the College of Arts building. Together these facilities provide space for a variety of performances, presentations, and exhibitions. They have made a great contribution to the local art and culture communities. 

Research & Educational Facilities Center 

Research & Educational Facilities Center is equipped with a transmission electron microscope, X-ray diffraction analyzed, fluid plasma inducer, and other high-cost, precision research instruments. The institute has currently acquired about 90% of its planned facilities. The instruments are available for the research needs of professors and students. 

Indonesia perlu belajar dari sistem dan kualitas pendidikan Korea Selatan.

Apa sih yang pertama kali kalian pikiran jika mendengar kata KOREA? 

Kebanyakan siih jawabannya K-POP, eits.. tunggu dulu! 

K-POP saat ini memang sedang Populer dikalangan para Remaja sampai kalangan Dewasa Indonesia, tapi ada yang tak kalah menarik jika kita berbicara tentang negara yang satu ini yaitu, Korea Selatan.
apanya yang menarik? Boyband dan Girlband maksudnya? eitss.. kalau itu sih sudah jelas ya..
tapi maksudnya yang tak kalah menariknya yaitu, Kualitas Pendidikan di Korea Selatan.

Korea Selatan merupakan salah satu Negara di kawasan Asia yang menduduki peringkat ke-2 dunia dalam dunia Pendidikan setelah Finlandia. Tak hanya itu, Negara yang dikenal dengan makanan khasnya yang bernama kimchi ini, juga unggul dalam perkembangan ekonomi serta ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi yang berkembang secara pesat. Korea Selatan bahkan sudah mampu bersaing dengan negara-negara maju lainnya yang lebih dulu dikenal dengan kemajuan di bidang teknologinya seperti Amerika dan Jepang.

Pada sisi pengembangan Sumber Daya Manusia khususnya pada pendidikan, pemerintah Korea Selatan, telah memberi perhatian yang sangat baik dan khusus terhadap kualitas pendidikannya, baik pendidikan di lingkungan rumah maupun di lingkungan university. Pemerintah Korea Selatan memandang bahwa pendidikanlah yang merupakan unsur utama dalam  memicu peningkatan kualitas Sumber Daya Manusia dan beliau (Pemerintah Korea Selatan) percaya apabila tingkat kualitas pendidikkan meningkat, maka masa depan kita akan berubah menjadi lebih baik. Perhatian itu mulai dari sistematika kurikulum hingga pembangunan sarana dan prasarana university yang hampir sebagian besar didanai oleh Pemerintah.

Tersedianya fasilitas tersebut menjadi motivasi dan dorongan yang kuat bagi kalangan mahasiswa-mahasiswi untuk belajar lebih bersungguh-sungguh menimba ilmu pengetahuan. Seperti halnya, Pemerintah Korea Selatan telah menyediakan akses internet berkecepatan tinggi di setiap university demi kelancaran siswanya dalam melaksanakan proses belajar mengajar. Oleh karena itu kita tidak heran lagi kalau Korea Selatan maju begitu pesat termasuk dalam dunia pendidikan.

Maka dari itu tak heran jika sistem Pendidikan di Korea Selatan begitu seimbang dalam bidang praktek maupun teori, dimana semua fasilitas sudah ditunjang dan motivasi dari para mahasiswa-mahasiswi yang cukup besar dan dibarengi dengan semangat nasionalisme yang tinggi sehingga membawa Korea Selatan kedalam peringkat 2 di dunia dalam hal Kualitas Pendidikan.

Indonesia bisa belajar banyak dari Korea Selatan dalam hal pendidikan dimana Pendidikan adalah Pilar Utama Kemajuan Korea Selatan. Nah, sudah jelaskan mengenai bagaimana kualitas pendidikan Korea Selatan? Tertarik untuk melanjutkan S1 / S2/ S3 di Korea? jika kalian berpikir tentang mendapatkan gelar Bachelor, Master dan Doctor di sebuah negara di mana pendidikan merupakan salah satu prioritas nasional dan mahasiswa-mahasiswi dari seluruh dunia disambut hangat? Kemudian Anda berada di halaman yang tepat. Korea Selatan adalah negara yang indah, sejarah alam yang luar biasa dan budaya. Ini juga merupakan tempat yang bagus untuk mempertimbangkan untuk mendapatkan gelar bachelor, master dan doctor anda.

What was the first thing you guys thought about when you heard the word, "KOREA"? 

A lot would answer KPOP but wait! 

K-POP right now is popular amongst the younger teenagers and some of the adults in Indonesia, but there is one other thing that will not lose, South Korea. 

What is so attractive about South Korea? both boybands and girlbands? that much is obvious but the one thing that doesn't get defeated is the quality of education in South Korea. 

South Korea is one of the countries in Asia that is placed as the second in the world's top education after Finland. Not only that, this country that is so popular with their famous food, Kimchi, is also apart of the booming economy in science and technology that is increasing exceptionally. South Korea also already improving with other developed countries that are already introduced with improvement such as America and Japan. 

With the side of human resources that is especially for education, the president of South Korea have given the utmost attention to the quality of education from the environment of both Home and School. The president of South Korea believes strongly in how education is one of the most important in the improvement of the human resources. The president believes that the quality of education will make our future even more reliable. That utmost attention started from the systematic curriculum till the innovation of means and infrastructure based university that is almost a part of a big funded project from the government.

These facilities are becoming a motivation and a pushing force for the students to take studying seriously, gaining unlimited knowledge. The Korean government have given an access of high speed internet in every university out there for the hopes of a smooth process of learning for the students. That is the reason why we are not confused as to why South Korea is advancing rapidly in the world's education.

That is why it is not a confusion to us that the system of education in South Korea is very balanced in the practical or theoretical department, where all of the facilities are supported and motivated from fellow students that are joined with nationalistic passion that are bringing South Korea to the second in the world's quality of education.

Indonesia can learn a lot from South Korea in education where as education is one of the main pillars in developing one's nation. Now that the quality of education in South Korea is thoroughly discussed, are you interested to continue S1/ S2/ S3 in South Korea? If you are actually interested in taking Bachelor, Masters and Doctors degree  in a country where education is one of the national priority and where students from all over the world are warmly welcomed, you are in the right page. South Korea is a beautiful country where history of nature and culture is vast. Kyungsung University is where you can consider to take Bachelor, Masters, and Doctors degree.

The quality of education in South Korea

Korea Selatan kini masuk dalam jajaran negara ekonomi maju didunia. sebagai sebuah negara demokrasi kawasan asia pasifik, Korea Selatan menjadi salah satu pilar utama penting ekonomi dunia. Demikian pula hubungan Indonesia dengan Korea Selatan kini masuk dalam sepuluh besar negara berinvestasi dan perdagangan yang sangat Progresif di Indonesia.

Ditopang dengan sistem pendidikan yang memadukan keseimbangan teori dengan praktek juga penempaan semangat nasionalisme yang tinggi merupakan salah satu pilar utama kemajuan Korea Selatan adalah inspirasi menggapai kesempatan masa depan yang lebih tertata dan nyata. Dan Kyungsung University akan mampu menjadi Jembatan dalam mewujudkan cita-cita dan impian kita di masa depan. 

These days, South Korea is proved to be one of the countries that are significantly improved in the Economy department in the world. As a democratic country in the Asia Pacific, South Korea became one of the most important pillar to the world Economy. Moreover, the relationship between Indonesia and South Korea became one of the biggest countries that are very progressive in the investment and trading department in Indonesia. 

Supported with the education system that integrated balanced theory with practice and also the forging spirit of nationalism, form one of the main pillars of the innovation of South Korea. this achieves chances for the near future that is more orderly and realistic.
